Quest Diagnostics: Do You Need an Appointment?

When it comes to lab testing, having a clear understanding of what's involved can be beneficial. At Quest Diagnostics, our licensed professionals from PWNHealth LLC and affiliated professional entities provide clinical oversight for your selected tests. This includes ordering your tests when appropriate.

You can select and pay for your lab tests online, and if you need assistance with the cost, our Patient Assistance Program may be able to help. During your appointment, you may be asked to sign an Advance Written Notice (AWN) or other paperwork.

It's essential to note that not all healthcare services are covered by insurance plans. In some cases, Quest Diagnostics may issue an AWN to notify you of potential financial responsibility for tests that are not likely to be covered by your health plan.

If you have questions about your coverage, it's best to contact your insurance company directly. As a patient, your responsibilities typically include copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and any testing services not covered by your plan.

Whether you'll owe a portion of the lab testing costs depends on your specific insurance situation. Quest Diagnostics does not hold your funds or charge you if your insurance pays the full amount. You will need to provide a credit, debit, or health savings card during your visit.

In some cases, you may receive a bill from Quest Diagnostics for laboratory testing fees only. This is separate from any bill you may have received from your physician and/or paid at their office. Even if you didn't physically visit a Quest Diagnostics location, your physician may have sent your specimen to us for testing.

The bill you receive is for laboratory services provided by Quest Diagnostics, which were ordered by your physician. If you're unsure about the reason for your bill or need help with payment, please refer to the message on your Quest Diagnostics bill or Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from your insurance carrier.
